EIILM Kolkata Students Build Global Skills and Cultural Understanding at SEGi University

The Faculty of Business (FOB) at SEGi University successfully hosted a six-week International Mobility Programme for students from EIILM Kolkata, India, from 10 May 2026 to 20 June 2026. The programme was designed to provide participants with an enriching academic experience while introducing them to Malaysian culture, industry practices and community engagement. Through a combination of classroom learning, collaborative activities and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, students gained a well-rounded international learning experience.

During the first four weeks, students completed a series of micro-credential modules delivered by experienced faculty members. The academic sessions included interactive lectures, tutorials, case discussions, group activities and presentations, encouraging critical thinking and the practical application of business concepts. The modules covered several key areas, including Quantitative and Statistical Methods, which strengthened students’ analytical and data interpretation skills. The Innovative and Creative Skills in Business module introduced participants to design thinking, problem-solving techniques, creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation within today’s business environment. Students also completed a Professional Development module focusing on communication, teamwork, leadership, professionalism, career readiness and personal development. The module equipped them with the skills and confidence needed to navigate future workplace challenges.

Throughout the academic component, students worked collaboratively in multicultural teams, exchanging ideas, exploring diverse perspectives and strengthening their cross-cultural communication skills. Interactive classroom activities and practical assignments enabled participants to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world business situations while building confidence in public speaking and collaborative problem-solving.

Following the completion of the academic modules and assessments, students participated in a meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at supporting the local community. Working closely with community members, they organised activities that promoted social responsibility, teamwork and compassion. The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative encouraged participants to recognise the importance of ethical leadership, volunteerism and community service while making a positive contribution to society. Through this experience, students developed greater empathy, social awareness and an appreciation of the role that businesses and individuals play in building sustainable communities.

Beyond their academic and community engagement activities, students had the opportunity to experience Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity through cultural immersion activities and visits to selected industry partners. These experiences provided valuable insights into Malaysian business practices, organisational operations and multicultural society. They also enabled participants to form international friendships and broaden their global perspectives.

The six-week programme successfully combined academic excellence with experiential learning, professional development and community engagement. By integrating classroom learning with practical experiences and cultural exchange, the programme further strengthened the international partnership between SEGi University and EIILM Kolkata. It also equipped students with the global competencies, intercultural awareness and leadership skills required to succeed in today’s dynamic business environment.

The Faculty of Business looks forward to welcoming future cohorts from EIILM Kolkata and continuing to foster meaningful international partnerships that promote academic excellence, cultural understanding and lifelong learning.
