Assoc. Prof. Dr Lydia Foong has been involved in Early Child Care and Education (ECCE) and tertiary education for over 29 years, locally and in the UK. She holds a St Nicholas Montessori Diploma (UK), Certificate in Montessori Primary Education, BEd (Hons) from University of Greenwich, Master in Educational Management and PhD in Education from the University of Malaya. She is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Languages & Psychology, SEGi University. Assoc. Prof. Dr Lydia Foong is the secretary of the Professional Development Board, ECCE Council Malaysia and an EXCO member of the National Association for Childcare and Education Malaysia. She is also the member of Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood (ARNEC) and Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association. She was a panel for the development of the Malaysian Vocational Programmes on Childcare and National Preschool Curriculum Standard, as well as the Malaysian National Pre-school Curriculum, Ministry of Education. She was the Consultant to Citibank, the first bank in Malaysia to have set up a Corporate Childcare Centre at the work place. When SEGi University Group was appointed Champion for the National Key Economic Area Entry Point Project for Early Child Care and Education Training, she spearheaded the initiatives as part of the
Economic Transformation Programme under the Prime Minister’s Department. She is lead author of several books including the 10 Year Early Childhood Care and Education (Ecce) Workforce Training Roadmap (2011 – 2020) & ECCE Malaysia, Towards Professionalisation (2014), and has published many articles in local and international journals. She is an active researcher in various grant projects and is frequently involved in paper presentations at local and international conferences.
