BIODATA :

Assoc Prof Dr Madhubala has extensive work experience, beginning as a teacher in a secondary school in Sabah, teacher training colleges in Sabah, Johor and Melaka before she joined MMU in 1997. In addition to teaching, she held various administrative posts, including, Head (Diploma Centre & Effective Teaching Methodology Unit), Deputy Director (Foundation Centre), Director (Foundation Centre & MMU University Press) and Dean (Learning Institute of Empowerment, Faculty of Applied Communication). Within a span of 23 years of service with MMU, she had initiated/established/expanded centres, i.e. the Effective Teaching Methodology Unit, Centre of Diploma and Affiliated Programs, Institute of Modern Languages and Communication, Learning Institute for Empowerment, Faculty of Applied Communication and MMU University Press. She taught language proficiency, communication and research courses at all levels, i.e. from certificate to PhD courses and was award the Gold Medal Award for Teaching (USM) as well as ‘The British High Commissioner’s Award to pursue her Masters at Leeds University, UK.

She is highly competent in curriculum and syllabus design, and has designed various programs at the certificate, foundation, degree and master levels. The Strategic Communication program at MMU, which is a niche undergraduate program at the time of offering was designed by her together with her 5 member team. She chaired an international conference and seminar. Passionate about research, she is actively involved in international collaborative research and have published in both Scopus indexed and non-indexed journals, ISI indexed conference proceedings, textbooks as well as MMU’s 20th Commemorative Coffee Table book.

Her external involvement is equally extensive. As an MQA panel member since 2013, she has reviewed diploma, degree and master programme and conducted institution accreditations. She is affiliated to numerous international journals as advisor, reviewer or editorial board member. Internationally, she has been invited as conference/seminar keynote speaker.
