SEGi University Student Wins Bronze at International Innovation Competition

SEGi University is celebrating another win for innovation, this time at the International Innovation Competition (IIC) 2024 organised by the Faculty of Arts and Science, Universiti Malaya-Wales. Mr Mohammad Sharif Bakhtour, a student from SEGi University, secured the Bronze Award in the Undergraduate category for his final year project, “Small Scale Portable Multiple Renewable Energy Generating System with IoT Monitoring and Control.”

Supervised by Mr Chong Hock Siong, this project stood out amongst submissions from professionals, academics, and students from various institutions. The event was held from 18 March to 17 October 2024, the competition provided a platform for innovators across different fields and levels to showcase their groundbreaking ideas.

The IIC 2024, themed around pushing the boundaries of innovation, featured diverse sub-themes including:

  • Cultural diversity and inclusion
  • Technology for future society
  • Sustainable and environmental preservation
  • Health and well-being

Mr Bakhtour’s project aligns perfectly with the sub-theme of “Technology for future society” and “Sustainable and environmental preservation.” By developing a portable renewable energy system with IoT monitoring capabilities, he has demonstrated a forward-thinking approach to tackling energy challenges and promoting sustainable practices.

This achievement underscores SEGi University’s commitment to nurturing student talent and fostering a culture of innovation. Mr Bakhtour’s success at IIC 2024 serves as an inspiration to fellow students and highlights the university’s dedication to providing quality education that equips students with the skills and knowledge to make a real-world impact.
