Global Connections, Bigger Opportunities—This Is How You Prepare for the Future

Higher education is evolving, and international partnerships are shaping the future of business education. On 18 February 2025, SEGi University’s Graduate School of Business (GSB) formalised a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the School of Management Studies, Karpagam Engineering College (affiliated with Anna University, India). This partnership aims to foster academic collaboration, research excellence, and cross-cultural engagement, reinforcing SEGi’s commitment to global learning and industry-driven education.

The event brought together 123 MBA students and four academics from Karpagam Engineering College, who participated in the MoU signing session, followed by two industry-focused workshops led by GSB faculty members. Research shows that international academic collaborations can increase student employability by 60%, equipping graduates with global perspectives and real-world business insights. This collaboration is set to enhance knowledge-sharing, industry exposure, and cross-border networking opportunities for students from both institutions.

A key highlight of the visit was a campus tour led by PhD students, where participants explored SEGi’s state-of-the-art learning environment. According to QS World University Rankings, institutions that engage in cross-institutional partnerships see a notable improvement in research output and academic impact, solidifying the value of global collaborations in higher education.

As the business world becomes increasingly interconnected, exposure to diverse cultures and business practices is crucial. The International Labour Organization (ILO) predicts that by 2030, 80% of jobs will require global competencies, making initiatives like this essential for future business leaders. The exchange provided students with first-hand experience in networking across cultures, an invaluable skill in today’s highly competitive global job market.

This partnership is more than an agreement—it represents a commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and preparing graduates to lead in a globalised economy. Research collaborations, student exchange programmes, and industry-driven workshops will provide an enriched learning experience, positioning students at the forefront of business innovation and management excellence.

By strengthening cross-border education and industry integration, SEGi remains dedicated to developing business graduates who are not just job-ready but globally competent and future-focused. As businesses continue to expand across international markets, initiatives like these bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring students receive the skills, insights, and networks needed to thrive.
