SEGi University congratulates our Year 4 dental student Jane Ong Jia Huay for winning the Youth Innovator Challenge 2021 as champion with her “Pokit” innovation.
The Youth Innovator Challenge (YIC) was organised by social commerce platform MeCan Trade and supported by GenYouth. It has the purpose of empowering and encouraging university and college students to solve a significant global problem through innovative and sustainable enterprise ideas.
In the first round of YIC 2021, Top 20 participants were selected and given the grant to produce their prototype. Then, the selected participants competed for the Top 5 with the chance of securing investment for their innovation.
Jane’s “Pokit” product was judged as the best innovation and rewarded with RM5,000 prize money as the fund to enhance her prototype.
“Pokit” is a multi-purpose storage device that acts as a phone case, mirror, mask holder and pouch or cardholder. It serves as a solution for people to keep their face masks sanitary in situations such as when they are receiving dental treatment or eating.
Jane leveraged her innovative thinking and presentation skills for the YIC 2021. She has achieved the Presentation Mastery – Level 5 from the Metro Toastmasters International Club.
