Nurturing Creativity and Academic Excellence at SEGi University

SEGi University has long championed a holistic approach to education, where creativity and academic rigour go hand in hand. Beyond the classroom, SEGi students are encouraged to explore artistic hobbies, from painting to music, nurturing both their intellect and creative expression. This blend of academic excellence and personal enrichment ensures that SEGi graduates are well-rounded, prepared for success in both their careers and personal lives.

Dentistry, for instance, is a field that beautifully merges science and art. While dental students need to master the complex anatomy of the human body, they also develop fine motor skills, artistic vision, and emotional intelligence to ensure they deliver compassionate patient care. Education at SEGi University goes beyond textbooks and laboratories, with a strong focus on nurturing holistic qualities through creative expression. This approach ensures that students develop not only their academic knowledge but also the personal and professional skills necessary for well-rounded growth.

Dato’ Professor Emeritus Hashim Yaacob, Dean of SEGi University’s Faculty of Dentistry, exemplifies the integration of art and science. A celebrated figure in both academic and artistic spheres, Dato’ Hashim has held numerous painting exhibitions, including one officiated by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. His art, spanning various styles, reflects the importance of creativity in maintaining a balanced and fulfilling life.

SEGi University believes in nurturing talents beyond academic success, supporting the development of well-rounded individuals equipped to tackle challenges in the modern world. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), ensuring that students leave SEGi not only with qualifications but also with the holistic skills needed to lead enriched lives.
