SEGi University is proud to announce the launch of a groundbreaking initiative: the Smart IoT Integration Rainwater Harvesting project for Sustainable Pool Maintenance. This innovative project, led by Ts Dr King Yeong Jin, in collaboration with co-researchers Ir Dr Chan Mieow Kee and Assoc. Prof Dr Ng Sok Choo from the International University of Malaya Wales, represents a significant step forward in sustainable water management. With a generous RM 4,000 grant from the Geran Kecil Alam Sekitar Negeri Selangor, the project will span over three months, focusing on the development and implementation of an advanced rainwater harvesting system.
The project aligns with SEGi University’s commitment to addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). By integrating Internet of Things (IoT) technology into rainwater harvesting systems, this project aims to optimize water use, reduce operational costs, and ensure the sustainable management of water resources.
Through this initiative, SEGi University is poised to make a significant impact on environmental sustainability. The project’s primary goals are twofold: to treat rainwater for safe use in recreational facilities, and to implement smart technology that enhances the efficiency and sustainability of the water management system. This approach not only addresses current water supply challenges but also supports broader efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable urban development.
