The competition centers around the art of mocktail mixology, challenging participants to concoct refreshing and visually appealing drinks without the use of alcohol. From fruity fusions to herbal infusions, students bring forth their diverse palette of flavors, aiming to tantalize the taste buds of both judges and fellow participants.
One of the highlights of the event is the sheer creativity on display. SEGi Students experiment with a wide array of ingredients, from exotic fruits and herbs to unique syrups and infusions under the supervision of Mr Dean Chua, lecturer in Food and Beverage Management. Each participant strives to present a mocktail that not only stands out visually but also surprises the taste testers with an unexpected blend of flavors.
The judging criteria go beyond mere taste; judges evaluate factors such as presentation, originality, and the overall experience the mocktail offers. Participants are encouraged to provide insights into their inspiration, making the competition an opportunity for them to articulate their passion for mixology.
Participation in the VIDA Kinohimitsu Mocktail Competition extends beyond the thrill of the competition itself. Students gain valuable skills in teamwork, time management, and the art of public presentation. The event also serves as a practical application of theoretical knowledge, as participants draw on their understanding of flavor profiles, beverage trends, and culinary chemistry.
While the event celebrates creativity in mixology, it also emphasizes the importance of responsible drinking choices. By focusing on non-alcoholic beverages, the Mocktail Competition aligns with the university’s commitment to promoting a healthy and safe campus environment.
The Mocktail Competition fosters a sense of community among SEGi students. Participants collaborate, share ideas, and celebrate each other’s achievements. The event becomes a social hub where students from various disciplines come together, breaking down academic barriers and promoting a sense of unity.
The Mocktail Competition for university students is not just a showcase of mixology skills; it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and responsible choices.
