SEGians Dive into Sustainable Urban Living at TRX

SEGi University continues to uphold its dedication to sustainability and quality education through an educational site visit to The Exchange TRX on March 2nd, 2024. Organized by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and led by Ts. Zamzarina Binti Md Judyar, this visit provided seven students and one lecturer with an in-depth understanding of green building concepts. The Exchange TRX, a 17-acre lifestyle precinct, serves as a model for climate-resilient infrastructure and sustainable urban living.

The visit aimed to enrich the students’ knowledge in Building Services I and II, covering critical aspects such as water services, electrical systems, lighting, security, cooling, fire protection, and ventilation systems. Through a guided tour led by Mr. Trevor Hill, General Manager of The Exchange TRX, students were exposed to the cutting-edge sustainability practices implemented at the precinct. This experience bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, aligning perfectly with SEGi’s mission to provide hands-on learning opportunities.

The Exchange TRX is not just a commercial hub but also a beacon of sustainable development. Designed to integrate local heritage, arts, and culture, it is envisioned as a social heart where people connect and thrive in a connected and healthy urban environment. The precinct’s emphasis on climate resilience and digital innovation underscores its commitment to sustainability, making it a fitting example for SEGi students.

This site visit is a testament to SEGi University’s commitment to fostering educational excellence and sustainability, contributing to the broader goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). The hands-on experience gained from this visit equips students with the practical skills necessary to excel in the evolving field of green building and sustainable development.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
SDG 4 (Quality Education)
SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)
SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities)
