SEGians Engage in Cutting-Edge Industry 4.0 and Sustainability Talks

The Intelligent Manufacturing Kuala Lumpur (IMKL) conference, held from 10 to 12 July 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), made a significant impact on the manufacturing industry in ASEAN. Organised by SHRDC, the conference focused on Industry 4.0 and sustainability, bringing together 27 global experts to share insights, research, and the latest technological trends. The event garnered attention from manufacturers across the region, highlighting the importance of digital transformation and sustainable practices in advancing the industry.

Participants praised the conference for creating a platform that connected professionals from various industries and backgrounds. The collaborative environment fostered discussions on how emerging technologies can address pressing challenges, while also driving sustainability in manufacturing. With a strong focus on innovations that align with the global push towards greener economies, the conference underscored the critical role of Industry 4.0 in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A notable aspect of the event was the involvement of Daikin Electronic Devices Malaysia (DEDM), a valued MOA partner, who sponsored two SEGi University students, Varsanraaj Vijayan from Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (BME) and Ng Nii Chien from Chemical Engineering (BCHEM), to attend the conference. Their participation enabled them to immerse in sessions that complemented their academic and professional interests, providing them with unique insights into the latest industry developments. The students also had valuable networking opportunities, further enriching their learning experience and enhancing their future career prospects.

The IMKL conference not only provided a knowledge-sharing platform but also reinforced SEGi University’s commitment to preparing its students for a rapidly evolving workforce. By engaging with thought leaders and industry pioneers, SEGi students are better equipped to tackle the challenges of the future and contribute meaningfully to global sustainability efforts. The event aligned with SEGi’s vision to produce future-ready graduates who can thrive in the fourth industrial revolution.

The IMKL conference highlighted the ongoing digital transformation within ASEAN and the importance of sustainability in shaping the future of manufacturing. SEGi University’s participation, with support from its esteemed partner DEDM, demonstrates its dedication to academic excellence and industry collaboration, reinforcing its role in empowering students to be innovators and leaders in their fields.
