SEGians Learn the Power of Inclusive Education at One-Two Boost

SEGi University recently facilitated an enriching educational experience for its MED and BED students specialising in special needs education. On April 16, 2024, under the guidance of Dr. Pang Jee Ching and Nurul Salwana, students visited One-Two Boost, a social enterprise dedicated to training and employing individuals with special needs in Kuala Lumpur. This visit, in conjunction with Autism Awareness Month, provided invaluable insights into the real-world applications of their studies and the critical importance of inclusive education.

One-Two Boost, part of Selangor Dredging Berhad’s CSR initiative, showcased its efforts in providing quality education and vocational training to individuals with special needs, highlighting the significant impact such initiatives have on improving their quality of life and employment opportunities. This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work (SDG 8), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).

The visit was not just a learning opportunity but an inspirational journey for the SEGi students. They observed firsthand the effectiveness of specialised training programs and the positive outcomes of inclusive employment practices. This experience underscored the importance of providing equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their abilities, and reinforced SEGi’s commitment to promoting inclusive education and reducing social inequalities.

SEGi University’s dedication to supporting the UN SDGs was evident through this initiative. By collaborating with One-Two Boost, SEGi demonstrated its commitment to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all, fostering lifelong learning opportunities, and promoting sustained, inclusive economic growth and productive employment.
