A group of environmentally conscious students from SEGi University are branching out with their new initiative, “TreeDefine.” This student-led campaign, launched in collaboration with the School of Communication & Creative Design (SOCCD) and the Faculty of Education, Languages, Psychology and Music (FOELPM), aims to raise awareness and funds to protect Malaysia’s endangered tree species.
Inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goal 15, “Life on Land,” TreeDefine kicked off with a symbolic “Touch N’ Grow” event on 25 October. Over 40 lecturers and students gathered to witness the planting of a tree in the SEGi College Kota Damansara lobby, emphasising the vital connection between humans and nature.
Through social media engagement, student-led initiatives, and community events, TreeDefine aims to:
- Raise awareness about the importance of preserving Malaysia’s unique tree species.
- Inspire action to protect and restore natural habitats.
- Educate the SEGi community about the essential role of plant life.
- Raise funds to support conservation efforts in Malaysia.
TreeDefine showcases SEGi University’s commitment to environmental sustainability and empowers students to become active stewards of the planet.
This initiative is aligned with the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:
- SDG 13: Climate Action
- SDG 15: Life on Land
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
