SEGi University reinforced its commitment to academic excellence and industry-relevant education with the BIA Academic Advisor Visit on 27 February 2025. Taking place from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, this exclusive session provided students from the Bachelor of Interior Architecture (BIA) programme with expert guidance, career insights, and constructive discussions that will shape their future in the field of interior architecture.
Academic advisors, led by IDr. Fakhul Zaman, engaged in in-depth conversations with students, offering valuable perspectives on emerging industry trends, career pathways, and the evolving demands of the global design sector. As the interior architecture industry is projected to grow to USD 255.4 billion by 2027, equipping students with forward-thinking insights is critical. With sustainability becoming a cornerstone of modern design, students were encouraged to explore innovative approaches that align with the shift towards green architecture, which currently represents one-third of global building projects.
Interactive sessions allowed students to seek tailored academic advice while gaining a clearer understanding of the skills and knowledge required to meet industry demands. The event emphasised the growing importance of sustainable and human-centric design, ensuring that students develop competencies that resonate with current industry expectations. Research from the World Economic Forum indicates that 87% of employers prioritise graduates with industry exposure and critical thinking skills, making engagements like this crucial in preparing students for competitive careers.
Advisory visits play a pivotal role in closing the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements. The event not only provided an opportunity for mentorship but also fostered a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Students left with actionable feedback and a roadmap for success, reinforcing the importance of education that integrates academic rigour with real-world applications.
Academic initiatives like these underscore SEGi’s dedication to producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also industry-ready. By fostering deeper engagement between students and experts, the university ensures that learning extends beyond the classroom, preparing students to lead and innovate in the ever-evolving world of interior architecture.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
