The Faculty of Dentistry sent 2 student research project teams to 26th MDA SCATE above for Oral presentations. Each group was given 12 minutes for oral presentation followed by 3 minutes got question and answer. One student team project, presented by Year 5 student, Krystal Ng, won 1st place for Oral Presentation and was awarded a cash prize of RM 300.

Authors: Yen Shin Tan, Siti Nursyahira Binti Shaari, Siti Nuradiela Binti Rahim, Yu Chen Tan, Dr.Priyank Seth. Assessment of the Accuracy of Dental Age Estimation among Malaysian Chinese Children Using Demirjian’s Method.
Although this was not placed, FOD regards all students as winners and is proud of them for going up against postgraduate students and dental practitioners.
Nineteen (19) students from FOD participated in the Student Mentorship programme where they were assigned roles and responsibilities that exposed them to MDA activities such as registration of conference participants, guidance of participants, and assistance to speakers in the scientific forum, crowd management and management/assistance at the trade exhibition booths.
Twenty two (22) year 5 students (including participants of oral presentation) attended the Young Dentist Forum on Sunday 20 January 2019 where recent trends in dentistry and the experiences of four (4) eminent young ‘role models’ dental practitioners were showcased.
