SEGi University’s BEE programme demonstrates academic excellence

On 7 March 2023, the Faculty of Engineering, Computing, and Built Environment and Information Technology (FOEBEIT) at SEGi University hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Dean’s List Award Ceremony for the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme. Dr Jessie Siaw Fei Lu, senior lecturer, hosted the occasion and welcomed the academic team and students.

Ts. Vinukumar Luckose, the programme leader, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, introduced the department’s team members and provided the BEE programme overview to the students at the opening of the AGM. He then provided an update to the students on academic topics and forthcoming activities for 2023, highlighting the Outcome Based Education method involved in accomplishing the university’s vision and purpose statement. He also emphasised the necessity of the Industry Advisory Panel and external advisor involvement in the program’s continuing improvement.

During the AGM, two final-year students, Ali Anwar Mohammed Mohsen Al-Gailani and Amgad Mohammed Abduljabbar Al-Dubai, were recognised for their outstanding achievements in winning the Gold Award and Special Award in the group category during the MAHSA University-hosted ESTE 2023 (Engineering, Science, and Technology Exhibition) event for engineering students in research, design, and innovation skills.

The Dean’s List Award Ceremony honoured twenty-six students from the May 2022 semester and fourteen students from the December 2022 semester who excelled academically. Ir. Assoc. Prof. Dr Tan Yong Chai, Dean of FOEBEIT, SEGI University, presented them with Dean’s List Certificates. Furthermore, three students, Chin Sebastian (Year 2), Aishath Ibrahim (Year 3) and Tan Jia Sheng (Year 4), received trophies for High Achiever Award after achieving a perfect 4.00 flat GPA.

Tan commended the Dean’s List and Outstanding Achiever Award students on their achievements and encouraged all students to strive for their best in the future.

The success of SEGI University’s BEE programme students demonstrates the university’s high level of education. SEGi University has a high employability rate of 96.3% for its graduates, demonstrating that the courses are relevant to the work market.

The AGM and Dean’s List Award Ceremony was a success, commemorating the accomplishments of SEGi University’s BEE students and demonstrating the university’s dedication to offering a quality education that prepares its graduates for the job market.
