SEGi University continues to shine on the global stage with its commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. On 27-28 January 2024, Dr Pang Jee Ching from the Faculty of Education, Languages, and Psychology (FOELPM) presented her acclaimed paper at the MySDG International Conference 2024 at the Eastin Hotel, Petaling Jaya. Her paper, titled “Recapping Self-Advocacy and Leadership Development with Quality Support for Youths with Learning Disabilities in Malaysia: Lessons from SEGi University and United Voice,” was selected as one of the best papers for the conference, highlighting SEGi’s dedication to inclusive education and community impact.

The MySDG International Conference 2024 gathered thought leaders, educators, and advocates worldwide to discuss and promote sustainable development practices. Dr Pang’s presentation underscored SEGi University’s innovative approaches to supporting youths with learning disabilities, showcasing how quality education and robust support systems can drive leadership development and self-advocacy among marginalised groups. In collaboration with APPGM-SDG and MySDG Academy, Dr Pang’s research emphasised the transformative impact of tailored educational programs and community support. These efforts align with UNESCO’s call for inclusive education systems that accommodate diverse learners and promote equal opportunities for all students (UNESCO, 2020). By highlighting successful strategies employed at SEGi University, the presentation aimed to inspire other institutions to adopt similar practices, thereby contributing to broader societal change.
