SEGi University’s Faculty of Business, Accountancy & Law recently elevated the learning experience for its Bachelor of Accounting & Finance (BAF) students by hosting a dynamic engagement session with Ho Li Li, Head of Higher Education Partnership at AICPA & CIMA Malaysia. Held on 10 April 2025 during an Advanced Management Accounting class led by Dr Sudhashini Nair, the session provided students with direct exposure to the globally recognised Finance Leadership Programme – a gateway to earning the prestigious Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.
Bringing over two decades of expertise in education and professional development, Ho’s session focused on future-proofing students for the fast-evolving finance and business landscape. She shared insights into the critical role management accountants play in shaping resilient, sustainable businesses worldwide, reflecting the World Economic Forum’s 2024 report that identifies financial literacy and digital skills as two of the top ten skills needed for the future of work.
The CGMA designation, held by more than 150,000 professionals globally, stands as a benchmark for excellence in management accounting, equipping graduates to navigate complex challenges, from digital transformation to strategic risk management. As industries increasingly demand leaders capable of integrating financial expertise with sustainability and innovation, initiatives like these position SEGi graduates at the forefront of global business leadership.
This initiative aligns with SEGi’s commitment to ensuring students are career-ready and globally competent, while supporting the broader call for sustainable economic development. According to the United Nations, financial education and strong institutions are critical to achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth. By introducing students to pathways like the CGMA, SEGi is actively preparing future leaders who can drive ethical business practices and long-term value creation.
The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where students sought guidance on building their professional journey in finance and management accounting. The event, supported by Dr Stephen Sesaiah, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Accountancy & Law, and Programme Leader Umaimah Binti Kamalludin, underlines SEGi’s unwavering commitment to bridging academic excellence with professional empowerment.
