About Us

The Chinese Cultural Society (CCS) at SEGi University Kota Damansara is a student-led organization committed to the preservation, promotion, and celebration of the Chinese community’s rich cultural heritage. Through a diverse array of cultural activities and educational programs, CCS aims to create an inclusive environment that
encourages students to deepen their appreciation and understanding of Chinese traditions while engaging with the richness of Chinese culture.

As an active student body at SEGi University Kota Damansara, the CCS is dedicated to fostering a deeper connection to Chinese cultural practices. By organizing various events and initiatives throughout the year, the society provides students with meaningful opportunities to explore, appreciate, and connect with the cultural heritage of China.

Notable Events Organized by CCS:

Chinese New Year Celebrations:

CCS has consistently hosted annual Chinese New Year events. For example, the 2019 celebration titled “Returning to Hometown” attracted around 390 attendees, including students, staff, and visitors from other institutions. In 2021, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, CCS successfully organized the 11th SEGi University Spring Festival “Rewrite 20” as an online event, drawing thousands of viewers.

Spring Festival "Reignition" 2022:

Held online via Zoom, this event featured various performances and interactive sessions, engaging approximately 160 participants.

Chinese Cultural Experience Day:

In July 2022, CCS collaborated with SEGi University’s Confucius Institute to host a Chinese Cultural Experience Day. The event included a range of activities such as tea-making, Chinese paper cutting, Chinese chess, calligraphy, traditional painting, and shuttlecock kicking, attracting over 100 participants.

Mid-Autumn Festival "Music · Fate" 2023:

In 2023, CCS hosted the Music · Fate to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, with a focus on uniting people through the power of music. The event featured a variety of performances, including Chinese cultural group and solo dances, traditional Chinese music, and a fashion show showcasing Chinese traditional clothing. A special guest performance by Firdhaus (菲道尔) added to the excitement.Collaborating with SEGi University’s Confucius Institute, the event successfully brought together over 500 participants, including students and staff to celebrate the festival, engaging attendees with meaningful cultural experiences. The event created lasting memories and highlighted the connection between music and cultural unity.

Mid-Autumn Festival "Luna Feast" 2024:

In 2024, CCS hosted the Luna Feast Mid-Autumn Charity Gala, centered around the theme ‘Yue Yan,’ which translates to a joyful banquet under the moon. The event aimed to bring attendees together to
celebrate the full moon, a symbol of reunion, while showcasing ancient customs through performances and cultural displays.This vibrant celebration attracted over 500 participants who enjoyed a captivating stage performance of Journey to the West (西游 记), traditional Chinese dances, songs, band performances, and a Wushu demonstration. Special guest Dior (大颖) added to the evening’s excitement with a stunning performance. The event, with its thoughtfully designed logo symbolizing reunion, successfully created a warm and festive atmosphere, encouraging participants to gather, reflect, and celebrate the beauty of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Chinese New Year "Our Joyous Reunion"2025:

In 2025, CCS hosted the Our Joyous Reunion Chinese New Year celebration, offering a dynamic blend of workshops, performances, and bazaar to bring the community together in festive spirit. The workshops included traditional Chinese activities such as Diabolo (Chinese yoyo), Chinese calligraphy, and red packet (angpow) lantern-making, providing an immersive experience in Chinese culture. The event featured lively performances, including a vibrant Lion Dance, Chinese New Year Dance, and a Diabolo performance, adding excitement to the celebrations. Additionally, the bazaar showcased a variety of traditional goods, allowing attendees to explore Chinese New Year-themed products
and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Our Joyous Reunion successfully celebrated the spirit of unity, joy, and cultural heritage, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.  These events highlight CCS’s dedication to enriching students’ cultural experiences and fostering a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions within the SEGi University community. By celebrating the beauty and diversity of Chinese culture, CCS continues to build a vibrant cultural space that brings students together to learn, engage, and appreciate the rich heritage of the Chinese people.
