SEGi University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Robomy Sdn. Bhd., a leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and business solutions. Held in the VC Room, Level One, the event was attended by 30 distinguished guests and stakeholders from both organisations. This collaboration represents a pivotal step towards fostering innovation and expanding educational opportunities for SEGi students.
Professor Sharon, highlighting SEGi’s commitment to industry partnerships, addressed the challenges faced by international students in securing internships. She emphasised the potential for Robomy to facilitate internships, particularly leveraging their presence in India. Additionally, she proposed joint initiatives such as workshops and training programmes designed to equip students with practical AI skills, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Quality Education (SDG 4) and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9).
Ramakrishna Damodharan, the director of Robomy Sdn. Bhd., articulated their dedication to Malaysia and their mission to empower small companies with AI capabilities. He highlighted Robomy’s role in providing strategic guidance, implementation support, and ongoing optimisation to enhance productivity, improve customer experiences, and maintain a competitive edge. AI’s potential to augment human capabilities was underscored, promoting work efficiency across various sectors, contributing to Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8).
The partnership aims to bridge academic excellence with industry expertise, fostering future-ready professionals and driving innovation in AI-enabled solutions. This initiative is expected to benefit over 2,000 students annually, providing them with hands-on experience in AI applications and enhancing their employability. In Malaysia, where the digital economy is projected to contribute 25.5% to the GDP by 2025 (source: Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation), this collaboration positions SEGi students at the forefront of the digital transformation. Robomy’s commitment to AI-driven solutions aligns with global trends, where AI is anticipated to add $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030 (source: PwC).
This MOU not only enhances SEGi’s educational offerings but also aligns with the broader goal of promoting sustainable development.
