SEGi Dental Society (SDS) has always been something very close to my heart. Starting out as a subcommittee member in Year 1 and now, in Year 4, serving as the President, this marks my fourth year of being part of the scene. Over these years, I have had the privilege of seeing what truly happens behind the scenes, the teamwork, the dedication, and the friendships that keep this society alive. Through it all, I have learned so much, not just as a dental student, but as a person.
Being the President is not about giving orders or expecting things to get done. It is about connecting with people, understanding every student’s voice, perspective, and feelings, and finding ways to make things better together. Every experience has reminded me that there is still so much more to learn and to grow, and that is exactly what SDS represents.
SDS is more than just a society. It is a family, a place where we learn, laugh, and support one another through every challenge. Joining SDS means being part of something bigger than yourself, where every effort matters and every smile shared becomes part of a meaningful journey we will always carry with us.
The smiles we create as dentists may fade with time, but the ones we share through SDS, built on friendship, growth, and purpose, will stay with us forever.
