SEGi University has once again proven its excellence in research and innovation by securing the Gold Award in the Research Poster Competition at the 1st International Conference on Social Innovation in Design and Built Environment (SiDe-2025), held on 26th–27th February 2025 at Mecure Living, Putrajaya. This prestigious recognition reflects the institution’s commitment to cutting-edge research, impactful collaborations, and real-world solutions that drive sustainable development.
Led by Ts. Dr. Balqis, Ar. Nur Haziqah, and Ts. Noorul Fazdlee, the research team showcased groundbreaking work under the TASEE Framework (Technology Adaptively Sustainability Ecotourism Education). The framework integrates adaptive technology, sustainability, and ecotourism education to create innovative solutions for the built environment. As urbanisation continues to accelerate, research that enhances sustainable urban development is crucial, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change and promote resilient infrastructures.
The win at SiDe-2025 highlights the growing impact of SEGi’s research ecosystem, which fosters interdisciplinary collaborations and industry partnerships. According to the United Nations, over 55% of the global population currently lives in urban areas, a figure expected to rise to 68% by 2050. This underscores the need for sustainable urban planning, where research like the TASEE Framework plays a pivotal role in shaping future cities. Additionally, the global green building materials market, valued at USD 316.5 billion in 2022, is projected to grow at 11.8% CAGR until 2030, further validating the relevance of SEGi’s contributions.
Recognition at an international conference strengthens SEGi’s position as a leader in sustainability-driven education. Beyond accolades, the university continues to equip students and researchers with the skills and expertise needed to solve complex, real-world problems. This achievement is not just a testament to academic excellence but also an affirmation of SEGi’s role in pioneering solutions that align with global sustainability goals.
By continuously pushing boundaries in research and innovation, SEGi reinforces its commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also industry-ready and socially responsible. The institution remains dedicated to driving positive change, fostering an ecosystem of innovation, and leading the charge towards a more sustainable and inclusive future.
