On 7 November 2024, an insightful Industrial Talk on Power Generation Technologies and Renewable Energy was held at SEGi University, Kota Damansara. The event brought together industry experts, students, and academics to discuss the latest advancements in power generation methods and the transformative potential of renewable energy in addressing global energy challenges.
The talk focused on traditional and emerging power generation methods, illustrating how innovative technologies and renewable energy sources can reshape the global energy landscape. Participants gained a deeper understanding of how these advancements can combat climate change and ensure a sustainable and reliable energy supply for the future.
The keynote speaker, Ir. Fam Yew Hin, brought his extensive expertise in engineering and energy. As a Board Member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and Vice President of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), Ir. Fam has a wealth of experience in shaping Malaysia’s engineering and energy sectors. His career includes significant roles with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the Energy Commission of Malaysia, and MyPOWER Corporation, as well as consulting for independent power producers.
During the talk, Ir. Fam shared his insights into the challenges and opportunities in energy production and renewable solutions, encouraging participants to consider innovative approaches for a sustainable future.
The event was organised through the joint efforts of SEGi University, ASHRAE, and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). This collaboration showcased the importance of combining industry and academic perspectives to address the energy sector’s most pressing issues.
