SEGi University continues to lead the way in sustainability initiatives with a collaborative effort alongside Dell Technologies and SNS Network. As part of both SEGi’s and Dell’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, the three entities joined forces to launch a Sustainable IT Asset Disposal Programme, held in conjunction with International E-waste Recycling Day on 10th October 2024. The project is aimed at promoting e-waste recycling and raising awareness about responsible disposal of IT appliances.
During the event, Dell and SNS Network set up IT waste collection counters at SEGi University, where participants could dispose of their used electronics responsibly. Students and lecturers had the opportunity to learn about the importance of e-waste management through talks and were encouraged to contribute by recycling their IT appliances. Approximately 80 lecturers and students from various engineering programmes participated, contributing to the recycling efforts.
The initiative also incentivised participation with prizes sponsored by SNS Network, rewarding individuals who contributed recyclable materials. Dell sponsored light refreshments during the event, further fostering a community spirit around sustainability.
This collaboration aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly supporting SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), demonstrating SEGi University’s leadership in environmental responsibility and promoting a circular economy.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
