SEGi University’s Faculty of Education, Languages, Psychology and Music students had the privilege of attending the Malaysian Association of Applied Linguistics Asia Pacific Conference (MAAL APC) 2022 from 10 August to August 11 2022 at the KLCC Convention Centre.
The MAAL APC is a biennial conference that aims to bring applied linguists from across regions to network and share research outcomes and experiences. The theme for the 2022 conference was “The Role of Languages in the Pursuit of Global Sustainability”.
This year the conference was officiated and led by the MAAL President, Prof Dr Shameem Rafik-Galea, a postgraduate lecturer at SEGi University’s Faculty of Education, Languages, Psychology and Music. The participants were approximately eighty academicians, researchers and students through both online and physical platforms.
The students gained insights on the recent research and development in the linguistic field. Part of the key highlight of the conference includes keynote presentations from notable speakers which touched on issues such as language inclusivity, language policies and language pedagogies.
