SEGi Students’ “Funstar Charity Event” Raises Funds for Malaysian Public Welfare Association

SEGi University students recently organised a vibrant “Funstar Charity Event” in support of the Malaysia Public Welfare Association (Persatuan Kebajikan Awan Malaysia). Held on 7 July 2024 at SJKC Desa Jaya, Kepong, the event brought together the community for a day of entertainment, fun, and charitable giving.

Led by student Lim Teck Hsien, under the guidance of lecturer Mr Vijayasekar, the event was meticulously planned and executed. The team demonstrated exceptional organisation and dedication, starting with the formation of the organising group on 29 June, followed by the submission of a detailed proposal to the Student Affairs office.

Promotional efforts were launched on 6 July, utilising social media and community engagement to attract attendees. The event itself featured a diverse range of activities, including:

  • Live performances: Local artists and dance groups showcased their talents, providing entertainment and highlighting the cultural richness of the community.
  • Games and workshops: Interactive activities engaged participants and created a lively and festive atmosphere.
  • Fundraising initiatives: Ticket sales, on-site donations, and an online donation platform facilitated contributions towards the RM 10,000 fundraising target for the Malaysia Public Welfare Association.

The Funstar Charity Event successfully raised funds to support the Malaysia Public Welfare Association’s mission to assist vulnerable populations in Malaysia. More importantly, it fostered a strong sense of community spirit and demonstrated the impact of collective action in supporting worthy causes.

This student-led initiative exemplifies the power of combining entertainment with philanthropy to create a positive and lasting impact. The success of the Funstar Charity Event sets a strong precedent for future charitable endeavours within the SEGi community.

This initiative aligns with:
