SEGi University celebrated National Sports Day (Hari Sukan Negara) 2024 by hosting a Community-Based Exercise Workshop for seniors on 12 October at its campus. The event aimed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, focusing on the elderly population. Led by SEGi University’s top management, including Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Srikumar Chakravarthi, the initiative demonstrated the university’s commitment to health, well-being, and community engagement.
The highlight of the event was the 360 TitaniUM Core Strength Exercise workshop, where participants, including SEGi University leaders, engaged in gentle exercises, stretching, and balance training. These activities were designed specifically to improve physical fitness, flexibility, and overall well-being among seniors, encouraging them to maintain an active lifestyle. The participation of university leadership further reinforced SEGi’s dedication to promoting a culture of health and fitness, setting an example for the community.
This workshop not only aligned with the National Sports Day celebrations but also served as an important element of a research project funded by SEGi University’s internal grant programme. Led by Associate Professor Dr. Lim Boon Hooi and supported by fitness experts Dr. Chris Lee and Dr. Abel Raj, the project aims to study the positive effects of structured exercise programs for seniors. The research reinforces SEGi’s commitment to evidence-based practices in promoting well-being.
