TechSIC 2025 Poster Competition

The TechSIC 2025 Poster Competition, held as part of Technovation Week, is a student focused initiative organised by SEGi University in collaboration with the IEM SEGi University Student Section. The event took place on 3 December 2025, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, at the Multi Purpose Hall (MPH), SEGi University Kota Damansara. Designed to foster innovation, creativity, and critical thinking, the competition offered students a platform to showcase poster presentations centred on science, engineering, and technology solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through this initiative, students were encouraged not only to demonstrate technical knowledge, but also to apply their skills towards meaningful, real world challenges that affect communities and industries today.

A Showcase of Interdisciplinary Talent

Participants presented projects spanning a broad range of disciplines, reflecting the depth and diversity of talent within SEGi University. Submissions covered fields such as:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronic Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Cyber Security
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Architecture
  • Interior Architecture
By bringing together ideas from multiple engineering and technology disciplines, TechSIC 2025 promoted interdisciplinary learning, knowledge exchange, and stronger collaboration across fields. This approach encouraged students to think beyond single subject solutions and explore how integrated technologies can contribute to more sustainable and impactful outcomes.

Judging Criteria Focused on Practical Value and Impact

To ensure a balanced and meaningful evaluation, posters were assessed based on three key judging categories:
  1. Innovation and Creativity
  2. Application and Functionality
  3. Impact and Relevance, particularly in relation to the SDGs
These criteria highlight the importance of originality, feasibility, and real world value, reinforcing the message that great ideas should not only be creative, but also practical, relevant, and capable of creating positive change

Empowering Students Through Recognition and Exposure

Registration for the competition was open to students, with early bird registration (RM60) closing on 25 October 2025, and regular registration priced at RM70. A total of 18 awards were prepared to recognise outstanding contributions across the event. Beyond the awards, the competition served as a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen their portfolios, build confidence in communicating research and project ideas, and connect with academic and professional communities. Through poster presentations, participants gained exposure to industry aligned evaluation standards and developed communication skills essential for career readiness.
