The Postgrads Who Said Yes to Every Learning Opportunity

Postgraduate students were recognised for their exemplary commitment to professional growth on 28 July 2025 during the Continuous Self Learning Development (CSLD) Certificate Presentation Ceremony. Organised by the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology (FOEBEIT), the ceremony honoured students who had gone above and beyond in enriching their academic and professional journeys through year-long participation in development-based activities.

In a world where knowledge evolves faster than ever, initiatives like CSLD aim to instil a culture of lifelong learning, critical thinking, and global readiness. According to the World Bank, higher-order skills such as adaptability, creativity, and self-management are now essential for employment and innovation in the 21st-century economy. Programmes that encourage continuous learning prepare graduates to respond proactively to this shift — not just as professionals, but as solution-builders in an interconnected world.

SEGi University hosted the ceremony to honour thirteen high-performing postgraduate students from MSc and PhD programmes in Engineering and IT. These students actively participated in academic conferences, exhibitions, competitions, seminars, and extracurricular activities throughout the year. Their efforts embody the university’s commitment to developing agile, research-driven thinkers who can contribute meaningfully to technological advancement and sustainable development.

Deputy Dean (Research) Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Chan Mieow Kee presented the certificates and commended recipients for demonstrating the mindset of lifelong learners. In her speech, she underscored the need for future academics and technologists to continuously adapt, innovate, and seek new frontiers of knowledge in line with global digital transformation and sustainability demands.

The CSLD initiative is more than recognition — it is a reflection of SEGi University’s vision to nurture individuals who lead with purpose, grounded in both academic excellence and real-world application. By connecting postgraduate study with professional development, CSLD supports the cultivation of future-ready researchers, educators, and industry innovators capable of making positive global impact.
