This is What Happens When Brilliant Minds Unite!

The 1st Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology (FoEBEIT) Research Colloquium 2025, held on 5th March 2025, marked a significant milestone in SEGi University’s commitment to sustainable development and research excellence. The event brought together 30 participants, including postgraduate students, supervisors, and faculty members, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge exchange and innovation.

Postgraduate students in Engineering and IT showcased their research progress, engaging in insightful discussions on methodologies and project developments. This platform not only enhanced their presentation skills but also promoted a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Such initiatives are pivotal in aligning academic pursuits with real-world challenges, particularly those outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SEGi University’s dedication to the SDGs is evident through its comprehensive integration of these goals into its educational framework. By embedding the principles of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) across all academic programmes, SEGi ensures that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to societal and environmental well-being.

In 2022, SEGi published numerous editorials that heightened its commitment to the SDGs. For instance, research on neurological Waardenburg-Shah syndrome and studies on the efficiency of dual-chain integration in vocational education reflect SEGi’s dedication to addressing diverse global challenges.

The success of the FoEBEIT Research Colloquium 2025 underscores SEGi’s role in nurturing research excellence and innovation. By providing platforms for students and faculty to collaborate and share insights, SEGi contributes to the advancement of knowledge and the development of solutions to pressing global issues.

SEGi’s commitment extends beyond academic initiatives. The university actively engages in community-based conservation projects and renewable energy research, aligning with SDGs focused on protecting life on land and below water, as well as promoting affordable and clean energy.

Through such comprehensive efforts, SEGi University exemplifies the integration of sustainable development principles into higher education. By aligning its initiatives with the UN SDGs, SEGi not only enhances the educational experience but also contributes to the creation of a more sustainable and equitable global community.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
