Technovation 2025, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (FOEBEIT), brought innovation to the forefront on 16 April 2025 at the DOME, SEGi University’s Kota Damansara campus. With the theme “Future Starts Now!”, the event featured a vibrant exhibition of 30 Final Year Projects (FYP), 5 Integrated Design Projects (IDP), and 2 Design Projects (DP), representing the work of students from Civil, Chemical, Electrical & Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering programmes.
The showcase served as a powerful reminder of how engineering education can directly contribute to solving real-world challenges. From clean energy and waste management to automation and environmental resilience, many of the projects reflected direct alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on affordable and clean energy, sustainable industry innovation, and climate action.
Globally, engineers are seen as key drivers of sustainable transformation. According to UNESCO’s 2021 Engineering Report, there are only 0.43 engineers per 1,000 people in low-income countries, highlighting the need for a strong, future-ready engineering workforce to achieve global development goals. Events like Technovation are essential to cultivating these talents while encouraging innovation that benefits both industry and society.
The event was attended by academic staff and students across various disciplines, creating a collaborative space for feedback, engagement, and academic exchange. Project booths were buzzing with energy as guests interacted with student presenters and explored solutions grounded in both technical skill and sustainable thinking.
The success of Technovation 2025 was also made possible by a dedicated student committee, whose management of logistics, emceeing, photography, and coordination brought the event to life. Their teamwork exemplified not only technical competence but also leadership, communication, and professional readiness—skills that are critical for 21st-century engineers.
Technovation stood as a testament to the strength of SEGi’s engineering education, offering students the opportunity to innovate with purpose while preparing to lead in a rapidly evolving global landscape. It was a celebration of talent, sustainability, and the kind of forward-thinking mindset that the world urgently needs.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9)
Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7)
Climate Action (SDG 13)
