When Knowledge Turns into Climate Action

The Simposium Reformasi Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal Negara Tahun 2025 brought together government officials, industry leaders, academics, and NGOs on 6 May 2025 in Pahang to advance innovative solutions in national solid waste management. Officiated by Deputy Minister Hajah Aiman Athirah binti Sabu, the event emphasised digital transformation with a key focus on integrating artificial intelligence into waste management systems, supporting Malaysia’s goal of achieving a 40% recycling rate by 2025.

SEGi University stood out among 24 institutions and companies showcasing research and initiatives on integrated solid waste management. During her tour, the Deputy Minister visited SEGi’s booth, where Dr Jenny highlighted the university’s pioneering research in sustainable waste solutions. SEGi was awarded a certificate of appreciation, affirming its role in driving environmental stewardship and innovation.

Such collaborations contribute to national and global targets on sustainability, echoing the call for responsible consumption and production under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
