In a vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day, SEGi University’s Counselling & Student Experience Office, alongside the Peer Counsellors Group, orchestrated a series of empowering events to honour and elevate the accomplishments of women from diverse backgrounds—themed “Inspire Inclusion,” the events aimed to promote gender equality and female empowerment. From 4 to 8 March 2024, a spirited fund-raising drive occurred at the university cafeteria, resonating with support for these causes.
The culmination of the celebration was an enlightening online talk on 20 March featuring three exceptional women who have made significant impacts in their fields. Dr. Malar, a pioneering medical officer and social media influencer; Nana Mohd, a devoted wellness advocate; and Shirley Chong, a dynamic Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor and motivational speaker, shared their inspiring stories. Their narratives highlighted the vital role of inclusivity in society, encouraging listeners to recognise and appreciate women’s diverse contributions in all spheres of life.
The online discussion sparked engaging conversations about women’s empowerment among the speakers and the student audience, fostering a sense of inspiration and motivation. Serena Williams’ impactful words, “The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another… be courageous, strong, kind, and humble,” echoed throughout the event, reinforcing the importance of unity and mutual support in advancing gender equality and empowering women globally.
