The Wonder Pet Group, a team of dedicated volunteers from SEGi University’s Pengurusan Ko-kurikulum (MPU 3442), recently made a meaningful impact at The Mins petting zoo in Kota Damansara. This hands-on volunteering initiative blended animal care, education, and conservation, showcasing the group’s commitment to fostering sustainable practices and raising biodiversity awareness.
Guided by Dr. Nur Amirah Mohd Zahri and joined by students Lionel Mashagiro, Dalwin Yeap, Amir Ashraf Abd Razak, Mohamed Elsayed, Aashika Gorasia, and Ali Mohammed Al-Fakih, the team engaged in a variety of impactful activities, including feeding and cleaning enclosures, health monitoring, leading educational tours, and promoting conservation through social media.
The Exploria Kota Damansara event highlighted the power of co-curricular activities to drive meaningful change. By combining practical efforts with education and awareness, the Wonder Pet Group demonstrated the value of community engagement and SEGi University’s commitment to holistic education and sustainable development.
These efforts aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 14: Life Below Water – Promoting sustainable use of marine ecosystems and raising awareness about aquatic biodiversity.
- SDG 15: Life on Land – Encouraging the protection of terrestrial ecosystems, halting biodiversity loss, and supporting sustainable conservation practices.
