A group of students from SEGi University’s Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Centre for Pre-University Studies programmes recently embarked on an insightful industrial visit to Daikin Electronic Devices Malaysia Sdn Bhd (DEDM). The visit, which took place on 19th November 2024, provided students with valuable exposure to the world of engineering and potential career paths.
Arriving at the DEDM facility around 9:00 am, the students were warmly welcomed by the company’s management team and provided with refreshments. Following a brief introduction, they were divided into two groups to facilitate a comprehensive experience. One group embarked on a factory tour, while the other attended presentations led by industry experts from the company’s Research and Development (R&D) department.
The factory tour offered students a firsthand look at the manufacturing processes and technologies employed by DEDM. Meanwhile, the R&D presentations provided insights into the latest advancements in the field and the skills needed to succeed in a research-oriented role. Both groups gained valuable knowledge about the practical applications of their academic studies and the potential career opportunities available to them.
The visit concluded at 1:30 pm, leaving the students with a deeper understanding of the industry’s expectations and the skills required to thrive in the ever-evolving field of engineering. SEGi University expresses its sincere gratitude to the management of DEDM for their hospitality and for sharing their expertise with the students.
