Graduate Excellent Programme (GrEP) by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA)

The Graduate Excellence Program (GrEP) is a study sponsorship programme for excellent graduates who have been offered postgraduate studies (Masters and Doctor of Philosophy, PhD) at selected Higher Education Institutions (IPT) in countries that have a big impact on the country's employment needs. The Sponsorship will be in the form of a Convertible Loan which can lead to a reduction in loan amount based on academic performance and subjected to the approval of MARA.

Terms & Conditions

  • The applicant and 1 or both parents must be a Malaysian Bumiputera citizen .
  • The applicant's age limit on 31 December 2024 does not exceed 40 years for Masters and 45 years for doctors of philosophy.
  • Applications are open to new and existing students with a remaining period of study of not less than one (1) year (12 months) from the date of application.
  • Applicants must obtain confirmation from a certified doctor that the applicant is healthy and can continue their studies.
  • Applicants, Mothers, Fathers, Guardians, Guarantees & Spouses are not included in the MARA blacklist or in MARA Law actions.
  • Never received sponsorship or financial assistance from any other sponsor or agency for the same level of study.
  • The applicant is to obtain a release/deferral of the service contract or loan repayment from another sponsoring body. Applicants who are currently in service must obtain study leave approval or written confirmation from the employer.
  • The applicant has never had aid terminated by any sponsoring body due to disciplinary action, in violation of national law and has never been dismissed by any Educational Institution due to academic or disciplinary problems.
  • Applicants who have academic qualifications for the same level of study as this application will NOT be considered.

Academic Qualifications:

Applicants who do not meet the CGPA academic approval requirements as stated,
are eligible to be considered if they have at least three (3) years of work experience in related fields.


  • Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree recognised by the Government with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or its equivalent for previous level studies.


  • Applicants must possess a Master's qualification recognised by the Government with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 or equivalent.
  • Passed for research study mode.

Programme Requirements:

  1. This application is open to applicants who will start their studies before 31 December 2024.
  2. This application is open for FULL-TIME or PART-TIME studies (not including Online Learning) and has received study offers from selected Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) according to specific fields.
  3. For applicants who are currently working, only tuition fees will be considered.
  4. Applicants at the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level who will be pursuing research-based studies must prepare a research proposal for reference and review purposes for approval.
  5. Courses must have been recognized by the Public Service Department (JPA) and recognized professional bodies in the country such as the Bar Council, Malaysian Medical Council (MMC), Malaysian Architects Board (LAM), Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and so on.
