Now B40 Has a Chance to Break Poverty Thanks to Bina Siswa B40 @ Cameron

SEGi University recently hosted a thought-provoking forum on “Equal Access to Education” alongside launching the groundbreaking “Bina Siswa B40 @ Cameron” project. The event, held on 22 February 2024, at SEGi University, Kota Damansara, saw the esteemed presence of YB Dato’ Ramli Dato’ Mohd Nor, Deputy Speaker of Dewan Rakyat & Member of Parliament, Cameron Highlands.

The forum delved into pressing issues surrounding education equality, focusing on the challenges faced by the B40 community. Questions were raised regarding the existence of equal opportunities for B40 individuals and the perpetual cycle of poverty that hampers their progress. Participants engaged in lively discussions on the roles of government, society, universities, and companies in addressing these systemic issues.

In a significant move towards tangible solutions, SEGi University & Colleges, in collaboration with UniLenders Sdn Bhd, unveiled the “Bina Siswa B40 @ Cameron” project. This initiative aims to support B40 students aspiring to pursue higher education financially. Notably, the project offers loans with a minimal interest rate of 1%, repayable after a grace period of 12 months post-graduation.

In his address, YB Dato’ Ramli Mohd Nor underscored the importance of collective action in uplifting the B40 community. He emphasised that societal support extends beyond monetary aid, urging for holistic approaches to address the multifaceted challenges faced by the underprivileged.
