SEGi University continues to demonstrate its commitment to quality education and community engagement through its recent participation in “English Quest,” an exciting event aimed at fostering a love for learning English.
On 9 November 2023, Mohamed Arieff Shamida, Anna Phang, Wan Nur Jannah, and Nazeila Zahidin, representing the Faculty of Early Childhood Education and Primary Mathematics (FoELPM), took part in this initiative, showcasing SEGi’s dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) for Quality Education and SDG 17 for Partnership for Education.
The event saw the active involvement of Bachelor of Education students who curated six interactive stations, each specifically designed to enhance different aspects of English language skills, such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking. With the aim of providing an engaging and diverse learning experience, “English Quest” welcomed 200 fifth-grade students from SK Seksyen 6, Kota Damansara.
This community outreach effort was a valuable opportunity for primary school students to benefit from the innovative teaching methods learned by SEGi’s Bachelor of Education students. Participants were drawn from three courses: Approaches to Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Introduction to Curriculum and Pedagogy, and Arts Education in Early Childhood: Creative and Aesthetic Expression.
Adding to the excitement of the event were captivating stage plays featuring popular tales like Moana and The Wizard of Oz. These performances not only entertained the participants but also provided them with an immersive environment to practice and develop their English language skills.
SEGi University’s involvement in “English Quest” highlights its dedication to providing quality education and fostering community partnerships. By offering engaging and interactive learning experiences, SEGi continues to empower students and contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals.
