Reflecting on her experience, Wen Xuen remarked, “EAMSC was a truly transforming event in every way. I had the honour of participating on behalf of SEGi University and being fully immersed in a vibrant environment that was brimming with chances for education, teamwork, and cross-cultural interaction.”

With a rich history of excellence spanning more than four decades, SEGi University is renowned for its wide range of academic programmes and a strong reputation among employers. Recognised in the QS World University Rankings for its outstanding contributions to education and the high employability rate of its graduates, SEGi is known for providing students with a solid educational foundation that meets industry standards, enabling them to excel in the global job market.

Law Wen Xuen had the opportunity at the conference to engage in valuable academic and cultural exchanges, showcasing SEGi’s commitment to broadening students’ horizons and fostering a global perspective. Interacting with fellow students from different countries allowed Wen Xuen to deepen her knowledge of international healthcare practices, demonstrating SEGi’s role in preparing well-rounded professionals who can navigate the complexities of global health effectively.

The conference also allowed Wen Xuen to explore cutting-edge medical research and innovations, further enhancing her academic growth by attending keynote lectures by Professor Tikki Pangestu, Associate Professor Mark Chan Yan Yee and Adjunct Assistant Professor Ng Yih Yng. Participating in Ideathon competition, Wen Xuen represented SEGi admirably, highlighting the university’s focus on nurturing creativity and critical thinking skills among its students.

The delegates had a palpable sense of unity and purpose throughout the conference. Wen Xuen noted, “There was a strong sense of unity and purpose among the delegates throughout the whole conference. Participating in key note lectures, discussions, and presentations gave us excellent insight into the many perspectives and approaches of healthcare that exist throughout East Asia.”

Cross-border sharing sessions and small group discussions at EAMSC provided a forum for sharing ideas and viewpoints, offering Wen Xuen a more comprehensive comprehension of the worldwide obstacles, various policies, measures, and effects presented by the pandemic. The university’s steadfast commitment to fostering students’ global consciousness and career development has significantly enabled Wen Xuen to impact the global healthcare field.

Cultural exchange was a significant part of Wen Xuen’s experience, with SEGi’s support enabling her to showcase Malaysia’s rich heritage on an international platform. This not only promoted cross-cultural understanding but also reinforced SEGi’s commitment to holistic education, valuing cultural diversity and mutual respect.

One of the most memorable aspects for Wen Xuen was the opportunity to connect with medical students from various countries and collaborate on different activities. “My most memorable moment during this conference is connecting with medical students from various countries and collaborating on different activities,” she shared. “It has motivated me to keep working toward our goal of enhancing global healthcare outcomes and highlighted the significance of international collaboration in the medical field.”

SEGi University’s sponsorship of Wen Xuen at the EAMSC demonstrates its dedication to empowering students with global opportunities for personal and professional development. This initiative reflects SEGi’s mission to cultivate future leaders who can contribute meaningfully to society by combining academic excellence with global awareness.

Looking ahead, Wen Xuen expressed her desire to hone her communication and presentation skills further. “If I have the chance to attend another conference, I would hone my communication and presentation skills before the conference,” she stated. “Since it was my first time attending a medical conference, I felt nervous while interacting with other people. Therefore, I would consciously take steps to improve my communication skills and confidence in order to address this.”

As SEGi University continues to progress, it remains unwavering in its goal of providing a fulfilling educational journey that equips students to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Through initiatives like sponsoring students for international conferences, SEGi is shaping a new generation of medical professionals who are ready to tackle global health challenges with knowledge, empathy, and innovation.
