Aisyah Khadija binti Abd Wahid, a recent graduate of SEGi University, isn’t your typical accounting student. Behind her quiet demeanour lies a fierce determination and a passion for numbers that just earned her the prestigious Circle of Excellence Award. But Aisyah’s story isn’t just about accolades; it’s a testament to the power of hard work, resilience, and the unwavering support of loved ones, all nurtured within the halls of SEGi.
“This award is more than just a recognition of my grades,” Aisyah shares, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. “It’s a tribute to my parents, my friends, and my lecturers at SEGi who believed in me every step of the way.” For Aisyah, the journey to excellence wasn’t without its hurdles. Balancing a demanding academic schedule with her active involvement in the Malay Cultural Society pushed her to master the art of time management. “Organising events while studying for exams was a real challenge,” she admits. “But it taught me the importance of prioritisation and staying organised, skills that will undoubtedly serve me well in my future career.”
Aisyah’s journey into the world of accounting began with a desire for stability and clear career progression. “Accountancy offers a world of opportunities, both locally and globally,” she explains. But her perception of the field evolved during her time at SEGi. “I used to think it was all about crunching numbers,” she confesses. “Now I realise it’s so much more than that. It’s about critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication.” This newfound understanding was fostered by the dedicated lecturers at SEGi who broadened her perspective on the accounting profession.
This newfound understanding was solidified when Aisyah had the opportunity to apply her skills outside the classroom. Tasked with managing the budget for a cultural event, she experienced firsthand the real-world impact of accounting. “It was incredibly rewarding to see how my knowledge could contribute to something tangible,” she recalls.
Aisyah’s path wasn’t without moments of doubt. But a timely piece of advice from a close friend helped her persevere. “Prepare yourself with lifelong plans,” the friend encouraged. “If Plan A doesn’t work, Plan B will always be there.” These words resonated deeply with Aisyah, reminding her to embrace the journey and trust in her ability to navigate any challenges that came her way.
With her newly conferred Diploma in Accountancy from SEGi, Aisyah is eager to embark on the next chapter. She has her sights set on a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, and ultimately the ACCA qualification. She dreams of working for one of the Big 4 accounting firms, where she can continue to learn and grow.
Aisyah’s story is an inspiration to all aspiring accountants, particularly those at SEGi University. It’s a reminder that success is born from dedication, resilience, and the courage to pursue your passions. As she embarks on the next chapter of her journey, one thing is certain: Aisyah Khadija binti Abd Wahid, a proud SEGi graduate, is a name to watch in the world of accounting.
