About Sustainable Development Goals

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

Education, research and innovation are essential in sustainable development, making SEGi University to contribute towards achieving the goals. SEGi University defines sustainability as a term that encompasses all aspects of work commitments both academically and non-academically.

Our Commitment

SEGi University, has acknowledged the responsibility ‘through their teaching to equip the next generation of leaders, innovators and thinkers to understand the global challenges facing the world and the role they can play in rising to meet these challenges’. In becoming an educational signatory to SDG, we are committed to:

1. Support and promote the principles of the SDGs;
2. Undertake Academic and Research that provides solutions to sustainable development challenges;
3. Provide the educational opportunity for our students to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development;
4. Contribute to the achievement of the SDGs by ensuring our campuses and major programmes are environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive, and
5. Report on our activities in support of the SDGs.
