SEGi’s Impact at NACES 2023 Competition

SEGi University’s chemical engineering students displayed remarkable talent and ingenuity at the National Symposium Chemical Engineering (NACES) 2023 competition, held on 16 & 17 December 2023, at Universiti Malaya.

With a competition theme of “Mainstreaming Lab-grown Food: Chemical Engineers to the Rescue!” the students tackled the challenge of sustainable food production in 2050 amidst population growth, land scarcity, and climate change.

Participating in various competitions, including Technical Case Study and online quizzes, SEGi students like Tan Wai Hong, Riheme Ben Bornia, Daria Kudritskaya, Ngeow Quan Juen, Tengku Faris Imran Bin Tengku Amirruzaini, Ng Yan Zu, and Chee Hui Wen showcased their innovative solutions and technical expertise. Their active engagement in panel discussions and interactive sessions with industry professionals provided valuable insights into the future of chemical engineering.

NACES 2023 not only challenged students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems but also fostered critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The competition highlighted SEGi University’s commitment to quality education and excellence in nurturing future chemical engineers.

By empowering students to address pressing global issues through innovative solutions, SEGi University contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
